Memorial Day is considered the unofficial start of summer! The days are getting longer, the weather is getting warmer and that means it’s time to open your pool! To ensure a trouble- free opening, follow these easy steps:
Check Your Pool Chemicals
Make sure you are stocked up on the chemicals you will need for the summer. This includes chemical test kits, shock treatment and chlorine tablets. Throw away any old chemicals that are expired or not sealed properly.
Remove the Pool Cover
Be sure to remove all the dirty water that pooled on the cover before removing. In addition, check the lining and pool interior for any tears, cracks or damage and repair accordingly.
Survey Your Pool
Clean all debris from the off season and check the deck, pool equipment, filters and diving board for damage. Replace and repair anything that is needed.
Fill Pool and Turn on Filters
Fill the pool to the water line and vacuum it out. Once the pool is clean, run the filter twelve to twenty-four hours to mix the old and new water together. Finally, test the water with testing strips and add the required chemicals.
